Joel from Mnemonic Audio (http://www NULL.mnemonicaudio NULL.com/) has done an amazing job of distilling our ramble about the upcoming Global Game Jam at this week’s meet up.  If you’re looking for some can do sound help, talk to them because this podcast makes more sense than we did on the night!  50 minutes down to nine…and all of it highly relevant if you’re jamming in Melbourne this year…..enjoy! (and yes, I wish my voice were more suited to radio too, but Craig’s pretty dulcet)

Mnemonic Audio to IGDAM’s audio rescue!

I’d just like to thank Joel and Clark from Mnemonic Audio for coming to the rescue giving up time and resources to make the best sound we’ve had yet, and that was with a large panel in an acoustically unforgiving room. We hope to have them back at it next month.

Mnemonic Audio (http://www NULL.mnemonicaudio NULL.com/) is hard to say, but provides audio services in post-production, sound design and music (including audio editing, foley, mixing in stereo and 5.1 and voice-over recording) .

They work mainly in film, TV and radio (recording voice artists, putting all the sounds to film to make them sound awesome etc). As a result, we work frequently with advertising agencies doing voice-over work for TV advertisements, promos etc. and they’re keen to check out the games and are interested in getting involved in local gamesn sound design and music composition for iPhone, iPad, XBOX, and PS3 games. So please check ‘em out if you’re after something along those lines, and thank them for their top IGDAM support.

</well deserved plug>

A big thanks to Autodesk and FMOD for catering, and Mnemonic Audio for coming to the party with a sound system -  bring your iPod stacked with tunes, and Big Ant for the roof.

Don’t forget your invite and ID, the weather’s looking heaps better than pouring rain or scorching heat so all good Melbourne style! So don’t forget sunscreen and a brolly.

So the details again:

3-8pm at the Big Ant

Level 10, 271 Collins St Melbourne

Enter via the main lifts – look for signs if no-one’s about (the secure lift system and all)

We’ve gone a tad overbudget so donations upon arrival are encouraged

See you on the roof!

Invites are out and it’s looking like a doozy – IGDAM Christmas

If you registered (correctly) for the IGDAM Christmas party on Big Ant’s roof top thanks to Autodesk and FMOD you should have received your invitation via email.

It looks like there’ll be people from a pretty even spread of indies, prindies, wage devs, students and educators from, well, Big Ant,  Autodesk and FMOD of course along with

  • AIE
  • Blue Tongue
  • Brawsome
  • CATC
  • Deakin
  • Demruth (jetlag permitting)
  • Drop Spider
  • EA
  • Ex-Krome
  • Ex-Transmission
  • Firelight Technologies
  • Firemint
  • Infinite Interactive
  • Iron Monkey
  • Katanco
  • La Trobe University
  • Level 3
  • Mishme
  • Mnemonic Audio (who have offered to kick in $100 for the bar tab, so yay! More of that!)
  • Pilkington Street Studio
  • Play-Bit Entertainment
  • Qantm
  • RMIT
  • Ryan Bros & Assoc
  • The Voxel Agents
  • Tin Man Games
  • Universe Creation 101
  • Visceral
  • Wicked Witch Software
  • Zoomorphix Systems

So yeah, should be a top day!  It’s strictly invitation, over 18 and entry via gold coin donation – so if you’re registered, your  name’s on the door!

If you can provide a sound system and tunes please get in touch via giselle@igdamelbourne.org

PS – I need a break before tagging, this post, but I’ll get there!

See ya on the rooftop!
