IGDA Perspectives Newsletter – June edition call for articles.

The IGDA Perspectives Newsletter is looking for content for its June issue on Audio.

They are looking for pieces generally 500-3,000 words. Topics may include but are not limited to:

- History of sound in games.
- Current state of sound in games.
- Techniques and successes in narrative recording.
- Techniques for sound effects.
- Game audio beyond games (concerts, etc.).
- Audio and accessibility.

Please send article pitches to Editor-in-Chief Beth Aileen Lameman (beth@bethaileen.com) by Friday, May 20th and final articles by Friday, May 27th.

Hey all,

Another reminder that submissions have been requested for articles for the May IGDA newsletter, and they’re specifically after news from Australia, and can be on any topic from any perspective, so get them in and let the world know what you’re up to!

Please send your pitches in as soon as you can, and full articles (500-3000 words) with a short bio and pictures (JPG preferred) to Editor-in-chief Beth Aileen Lameman (beth@bethaileen.com).

Final submissions are required by Friday April 29th.

The IGDA Perspectives Newsletter is looking for content for its February issue on “Lifestyles of the Indie and Humble”.

We are looking for pieces of any length. Topics may include but are not limited to:

- What it means to be indie.
- Reflections on indie-friendly genres.
- Reflections on indie-friendly platforms.
- A day inside your indie studio.
- Alternative revenue sources for indies.
- Marketing tips for indies.
- Indie game success stories.

FilmVic’s new funding for Victorian games developers

The cat is officially out of the bag on FilmVic’s exciting new announcement that Brad Giblin alluded to at last week’s meeting, and it’s lookin’ gooood!

The nuts and bolts of it are the Minister for Innovation (now that’s a cool title) has announced funding for Games Investment which will enable games developers to create a full game on any platform, or a prototype to assist securing further funding, with up to $100k available for each project.

‘Play is Everywhere’: Freeplay call for participants

It’s time to make plans for how you’d like to be involved in Freeplay this year – be it as a speaker, volunteer or participant.

Paul Callaghan, Co-director of Freeplay, will be about before Tuesday’s  Trivia Night at the BLVD Bar in Southbank from 6.30, if you want to chat to him about how you’d like to contribute.
